Composed for Basingstoke Choral Society in 1981 and first performed by them in that year, this is is an unaccompanied cantata for SATB choir, a semi-chorus of about 8 voices and a tenor soloist. In words written especially by the late Richard Boswell, it relates the temptations of Christ in the wilderness using modern language. It lasts about 10 minutes.
