This musical follows five events of life and associates them with the Church's sacraments, thus giving a Christian perspective to life.

In "A Time to be Born" the new parents sing of their new baby, who they then take to the baptism service.

In "A Time to Build" a Teenager sings of his or her view of the world and how the only answer is the love of God, and then moves on to the Confirmation service.

Two marriage partners sing of their love and concerns and hopes for the future in "A Time to Love" before moving on to the marriage service.

"A Time to Live" takes a different approach, in which the choir performs a medley of well-known hymns, indicating the passing of the year. The section concludes with Holy Communion.

In "A Time to Die" a bereaved family sing of their grief, but also look to the hope of all Christians in the expectation of life to come. The funeral service concludes on a triumphal note.

The complete production lasts about 1 hour 10 minutes, excluding any interval.
